|Country:||Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad|
An old sailor rule meant once that the typical Navy rum was allowed never to be missing on board and the barrels were filled up so with regional rum of the Caribbean islands in the respective ports. So a heavy rum from mature distillates arose - the typical Navy Rum Blend. The individual distillates were from islands like Jamaica, Barbados, Guayana or Trinidad.
By analogy with this tradition Gunroom Navy rum arose. Still powerful pot still rums from Jamaica and Guyana were married with rum from Barbados and Trinidad. The production was partly still carried out in old stills which, once even were used by the Royal Navy. The so-called blending of the rum is carried out in barrels before bottling at "Gunpowder Proof" with 65% ABV.
